The project brief required securing consent for the redevelopment of the site for a flexible-commercial building, circa. 180sq.m GIA, outside of the Council’s designated zones for general industrial and warehousing uses. The client required the building design to reflect the architectural styling of the neighbouring community building, itself a relatively new-build, whilst ensuring the construction considered sustainability and functionality.
The resulting proposal was met with general support from the Local Planning Authority and third parties, given the removal of the three large advertisement hoardings that occupied the site, new employment opportunities and high quality design, courtesy of the architect Paul Brana-Martin. The development gained planning consent from the Council in March 2019.
